It’s an ethical and moral concept and our world needs awareness in order to take action. As Dr. Salimah H. Meghani, PhD puts it: “‘Disparity’ and ‘inequity’ are two interdependent, yet distinct concepts that inform our discourse on ethics and morals in… medicine practice and in health policy. Disparity implies a difference of some kind, whereas inequity implies unfairness and injustice.” May we become a world where we strive towards progress in unity taking accountability and reforms to make room for health equity.

I believe health provision needs to be a non-profit endeavor rather than a for profit enterprise. This does not mean salaries are stagnant or reduced or that research and development financing is lost. All income would be channeled to quality improvement and appropriate compensation NO MATTER WHERE THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED OR TO WHOM IT IS RENDERED. The focus on profit drives the socioeconomic disaster of our current system and highlighted in the video. I’ve worked in the non-profit sector for 29 years and have enjoyed a middle class wage. A nonprofit business structure keeps money generated in healthcare returning to healthcare to improve quality and service… for everyone.

Very impressed by the agency taking the measures to address these ongoing injustices and profiling others.
Keep sharing and informing us, we all need to face our own biases and alter them for change and justice to be reached, for all and especially Black lives. Thank you.

What Aly stated is right to the point. All I can do each day is be the person that they needed to show up, one who can listen, have good resources, re frame their thoughts, and have them leave feeling better about themselves when they came in, they teach me one patient at a time.

As humans we are always communicating in a variety of ways who we are. Included is what we believe, think, feel, not just our behaviors. A lack of continuity is indicative of questionable integrity. Understanding a problem does not mean that we are close to solving it.

Basic needs unmet is perpetual cruelty. Generations after generations people born and brought to death in poverty live lives of stress worries disrupted relationships. Inner tranquility becomes a privilege

Thank you for sharing. My heart aches for individuals who profess a desire to commit suicide. We need to listen to those who have troubles and help them express feelings so we can demonstrate empathy and extend a helping hand.

We will never be able to heal these problems until we all understand we are all connected, we are all family and that we were given this beautiful earth with an abundance of everything we need to live well. Until we can share people will continue to suffer. Greed runs this present world. The Hopi call this the 4th world, it will end badly unless we change . There is still time! we need to stand together and make the necessary changes today, tomorrow and forever.

I get people’s pain. And I also get there needs to be more of us- yes I said- us (black men and woman) in the mental health field who can reach these individuals in pain. And for those of already here…get the support we need not just with connection but financially to continue to do so. Helping one person, at a time thrive and become what they need to be.
